3.) Use on elevating work platforms
To minimise the risk of being thrown out, always set the length
between the work platform anchor point and the attachment point
of the safety harness as short as possible!
3.1) All of the HSG 18 Compact range with a length of 1.80m is
suitable for use on elevating work platforms (EWP). Only anchor
points mounted a minimum of 35cm beneath the handrail can be
used. Risk-free usage is no longer guaranteed when using a higher
anchor point.
3.2) The anchor point (AP) and the whole of the platform must be
able to absorb a dynamic jolt even in the most unfavourable of
circumstances. The following drop tests were carried out for
certification and the respective impact forces established:
100kg:
Direct fall = max. 3kN impact force
Sideways fall = max. 6kN impact force 135kg:
Direct fall = max. 6kN impact force
Sideways fall = max. 6kN impact force
Clarify the load-bearing capacity of the platform before use.
If the AP is higher, there is a risk of complete failure and it tipping
over! The device must only be used with mobile elevating work
platforms which are equipped with an anchor point(s) as part of the
work platform’s fall arrest systems. Only use anchor points with the
appropriate strength and compatibility and which are labelled as
such. 3kN were established in load tests.
3.3) Injuries as a result of hitting the work platform or the boom
cannot be excluded.
Use on scaffolding:
Both versions are suitable for use on
scaffolding (table on page 8, line 11)
The 2.5 m version is specified for use on scaffolding only. In this
scenario, the anchor point must be at least 1 m above the work
level/standing area, which corresponds to the height of the guard
rail.
