3 General information on the 6-wire video BUS
✓
Both the loop resistance towards the indoor stations (GND and +22) as well as that towards the door station
must not be higher than 10 Ω.
✓
The additional length of all cables between door station and main distribution must be 75 m or less, only if a
Video compact power supply with amplifier 300117 or an Extended video compact power supply with amplifier
300118 is used the length between distribution and the door station furthest away can be up to 350 m.
✓
The additional length between the indoor station furthest away and the main distribution must not be more
than 200 m.
✓
The BUS power has to be between 19 V and 26 V.
✓
For BUS lines and all other functions described twisted wire pairs have to be used. We do recommend to
use cable types J-Y(St)Y and G51 with a wire diameter of 0,8 mm. If needed and in case that more than one
shields are joined the shields have to be connected to PE to statically ground them to avoid interferences in
transmission/crosstalk.
✓
Up to three indoor stations can be configured with the same call address (parallel operation).
✓
When using star wiring or very long lines passive/active distributors are compulsory. Here the limits to the total
cable length must be complied with.
✓
It is possible to realise special functions (e. g. light signal systems, automatic door opening etc.) with additional
switch modules.
2.8
Installation provisions and protective measures
The device must be connected to the distribution in such a way that the area of its mains connection is not directly
accessible to the user.
An easily accessible isolating device must be provided outside the device.
The device complies with the overvoltage category II.
Outside the device an overcurrent protection needs to be installed ahead.
The device must be connected to the protective conductor system or to the protective equipotential bonding via
terminal PE.
The device complies with protection type IP20 and needs to be mounted inside a distribution or in a housing on DIN
rail.
The device needs to be installed inside a fire-protected housing according to IEC 60950-1.

Warning
Fluids or small electro-conductive parts entering the device may cause a short circuit, fire
or electric shock. The device mustn’t get into contact with water or other fluids.
Avoid small electro-conductive parts entering the device through the ventilation slots.
The device heats up in the nominal operation current, thus sufficient ventilation must be
guaranteed. The ventilation slots mustn’t be covered.
