Use and care
The pot is not suitable for dry cooking. Therefore, always pour in
as much liquid (oil, butter or water) as necessary to completely
cover the pot base before heating up. Never heat up empty or
dry. Cast iron, with its intense heat retention, works best when
heated and cooled gradually. Use low to medium heat for cooking
to avoid damage to the pot or the coating. Never place the hot
pot on a worktop or other surface without protection – also avoid
moving it back and forth on delicate surfaces. Do not stack with
other pots and pans for storage to avoid scratching or chipping.
Enamelled cast iron is exceptionally durable but can be damaged
if accidentally dropped or banged against a solid surface. This is
not covered by the guarantee.
How do I clean my Dutch Oven?
Always allow the hot pot to cool down before cleaning, otherwise
thermal shock can occur and the material may warp or, in the
worst case, crack. All you need for cleaning is warm water and
a little washing-up liquid. Stubborn encrustations can be soaked
in soapy water and then removed with a nylon scraper. To avoid
damaging the enamel, do not use pot cleaning pads with metal
fibres or sharp abrasives. Dry completely before storing.
And now have fun with your new Dutch Oven
