normaluse.Whenrunninginfullpowermodetheunitmakesuseofaveryefficientpowersupplyandallcom

ponentshavebeenoptimizedforreducedcurrentlossacrosstheentiredesign.

ZETA-NLP Low Power Mode

TheZETA-NLPhasaspecialmodeofoperationwhichforcestheunittodropdowntoasuperlowpowerstate
wherethemodemisstilloperationalandregisteredonthenetworkbutisfunctionallyasleep.Thisallowsfor
themodemtoremainconnectedtothenetworkandbereadytosendandreceivedatausingafractionofthe
energy.

ThissuperlowpowerstateisachievedbysettingthefollowingATcommandtothemodem:

AT+CFUN=5

Oncethiscommandhasbeenissuedthenthemodemisreadytoenterlowpowermode.Toactivatelowpower
modeandputthemodemintoadormantstatetheDTRlinebustbedeassertedontheserialport.

WhenthedevicehasenteredlowpowermodetheCTSlinewillde-assertindicatingthatthedevicehasgone
intolowpowerstate.AtthispointtheserialportisalsodeactivatedandthemodemwillnotrespondtoATcom

-

mandsandwillappeartobeoff.Tobringthemodembacktonormalpowerstateandcommunicatewiththe
modemagainitisnecessarytore-asserttheDTRlineandthemodemwillleaveitsdormantstateandbecome
fullyactivefornormaloperation.Wheninthedormantlowpowerstateanincomingcallrequest,incomingSMS
orincomingsocketrequestwillforcethemodemtoenteritsfullpowermodeandbeabletobeusedasnormal.

Thismodeallowsthemodemtoconsumeverylittlecurrentwhilstitisnotinusebutbeavailableforuselocally
byassertingtheDTRlineorexternallyfromanincomingcommunicationrequest.Themodempoweronand
powerlineswillremainactivethroughoutandcanalsobeusedtoturnthemodemcompletelyoff.
