Installation of turbine meter
3.1
Important information and prerequisites for installation and operation
Always observe the following information in order to achieve the best possible measuring ac-
curacy and the specified output signal:
•
The
preferred installation position
of the turbine flow sensor is
horizontal
. However, if it
is installed in vertical pipes, the measuring range start may be displaced. The preferred
direction of flow is from the bottom up. Prevent a free outlet.
•
If the turbine flow meter is used in a newly installed pipe system, the system has to be suf-
ficiently flushed prior to turbine meter installation in order to remove any sediment, weld-
ing beads, sand or other residue. Otherwise the turbine will be damaged.
•
Use suitable protective measures to prevent formation of gas bubbles in the medium and
cavitation (sufficient system pressure of at least 2 bar above the vapour pressure or gas
separator).
•
The arrow (
) on the turbine flow sensor indicates the only possible direction of flow.
•
In order to achieve the best measuring accuracy, a “straight” inlet section of at least
10 x DN has to be provided in before turbine flow sensor and a “straight“ outlet section of
at least 5 x DN after it (see drawing).
