3. Connect a fiber cable between the Transceiver's Tx (transmit) port
and 100FX card/device's Rx (receive) port and another cable
between the Rx to Tx, respectively.
4. Configure the SW1 DIP switch to match the remote device's
Duplex (Half or Full) and Repeater or Node modes. MII Physical
Address is 0 (isolation mode) or 4 (regular mode). The following
figure illustrates the default settings.
SW1-1 MII port duplex
Full-duplex (Fdx) (
default
)
mode:
or Half-duplex (Hdx) mode
SW1-2 MII port mode:
Repeater
(default)
or Node mode
SW1-3 MII port
0
(default
, isolation mode) or
physical address:
4 (regular mode)
The MII setting should match at both ends. You may use a shunt
cable to diagnose the connection, i.e., local loop-back or remote
loop-back test.
If the MII transceiver is used in the
Node
mode, change
Repeater
mode to
Node
mode. When the MII transceiver configuration is
altered, power off the MII device (10 seconds) and then power ON
to restart the new configuration.
5. Power on the MII port/device.
