System architecture

The NK823x Modbus Gateway functionality allows for integration of FS20/FS720 and
STT20 fire detection systems into 3rd party Modbus head-end/automation systems on
LAN or over a serial line. It provides for bi-directional Modbus RTU and TCP/IP con-
nectivity to Sinteso or Cerberus PRO and STT20 fire detection systems.

Communication/connection

The FS20/FS720/STT20 is connected via Ethernet and BACnet/IP protocol to the
NK823x.

On the upstream side the NK823x is connected to MM8000 and/or MK8000 via
Ethernet and BACnet/IP or CMSDL/IP protocol. The 3

rd

 party Modbus device is con-

nected either via Ethernet and TCP/IP Modbus protocol or via RS-232/RS-485 and
Modbus RTU protocol to the NK823x.

In addition, NK823x can be configured as a BACnet Foreign Device or act as BBMD
(BACnet Broadcast Management Device).

NK823x has an integrated firewall and router supporting the dynamic routing protocol
Open Shortest Path First (OSPF).

The built in NK823x Web Server can be used for monitoring and diagnostic purposes.
