Reinitializing the hard disk
If the contents of the hard disk have been partially or completely deleted, you can
restore them with the system diskette and the backup diskettes. The files and
directories which existed on the hard disk when the PC was first put into use are
restored.
Restoring the entire hard disk contents
Start the PC with the system floppy disk inserted.
Partition the hard disk using the MS-DOS
command
FDISK
(you need
knowledge of the system to do this).
Format the hard disk using the MS-DOS command
FORMAT
with the
/s
switch
(e.g.
FORMAT C:/s
)
Option
/s
causes the system files required for booting the operating system to be
copied onto the hard disk.
Create the directory
DOS
(z. B.
MD C:\DOS
↵
).
Copy the contents of the system diskette to directory
C:\DOS
on the hard disk
(e.g.
XCOPY A:\*.* C:\DOS
↵
).
Start the backup program
MSBACKUP
(e.g.
C:\DOS\MSBACKUP
↵
).
Restore your files on the hard disk using the
RESTORE
function of your backup
program and your backup disks.
Restoring individual files
Start program
MSBACKUP
(e.g.
C:\DOS\MSBACKUP
↵
).
Restore your files on the hard disk using the
RESTORE
function of your backup
program and your backup disks.
