Bluetooth Interface
(MiniPlex-2S/BT, MiniPlex-2USB/BT)
Using the Bluetooth interface you can connect a host device wirelessly with the MiniPlex. It uses the
“Serial Port Profile”, which means that this connection is presented on a host as a standard (virtual) COM
port. Such a COM port can be opened by any application.
No drivers are required to use a MiniPlex with Bluetooth. As long as the host supports the Serial Port
Profile, the only thing you need to do is to pair your device with the MiniPlex. Pairing is a process that
connects two Bluetooth devices together by their unique address. Once paired, both devices know about
each other and the Bluetooth connection is initiated automatically when an application opens the virtual
COM port.
Pairing is initiated on the host by issuing a command like “Find Bluetooth Devices”. This operation will
show a list of Bluetooth devices in the near surroundings that have responded to the inquiry scan of the
host. The multiplexer will be listed as “MiniPlex-2S/BT” or “MiniPlex-2USB/BT”. Select this entry and enter
the required passkey when asked.
The passkey of the multiplexer is “0000” (four zeros). Most host devices will recognize this and connect
without asking you for a passkey. Follow the directions on your device to finish the pairing process. A
COM port will now be assigned to the MiniPlex, which can be opened by your navigation software.
In Windows, two COM ports are assigned to the multiplexer, one for outgoing connections and one for
incoming connections. You must use the port for outgoing connections in your navigation software.
