Digital Image Stabilization
(DIS)
The digital image stabilization (DIS) function is
factory preset to on to stabilize the image by
electronically compensating for relatively small
image shakes that are often annoying in close-
up shots.
The DIS function cannot compensate for
excessive image shakes, or for the subjects or
situations described below. In these cases,
turn off the DIS function and use the VIEWCAM
on a tripod.
• Subject with low contrast
• Subject with a plain background
• Dark or dimly lit subject
• Many moving subjects in a single frame
• Subject with vertical or horizontal stripes
Turning Off the DIS Function

In Recording Standby mode, display the
menu screen (see page 25).

Toggle the CONTROL switch (
Q
) to
select “DIS”, then press the CONTROL
switch (
W
) to select “OFF”.

Press the EXIT button (MODE DISPLAY)
to turn off the menu screen.
• The
indicator is turned off.
To return to DIS mode
Press the CONTROL switch to set the DIS
menu item to “ON” in step 2 above.
Quick Review
The quick review function lets you check the
last 5 seconds of tape just recorded without
switching to VCR mode, to make sure that the
recording has come out right.

• The tape rewinds to the point of 5 sec-
onds before the current tape position;
playback then starts automatically.
After 5 seconds of playback, the VIEW-
CAM enters the Recording Standby mode.
