PRINCIPLE FOR FUSION WELDING
Socket fusion welding is a widely used technique for assembling plastics piping systems using
injection moulded fittings. Operating principles are straightforward, the welding cycle essentially
consisting of a heating phase and a cooling/welding phase.
A metal socket mounted on a hot plate heats the outside circumference of the pipe (see process
schematic below). Heating occurs along a defined length which will vary depending on the size of pipe
and fitting being welded. A metal spigot on the opposite side of the hot plate simultaneously heats the
inside surface of the injection moulded fitting. The length of the heated region is the same as that for
the pipe.
Both fitting and pipe are heated for a set length of time after which the heated socket/spigot tooling is
removed and the pipe is pushed into the fitting. Pipe and fitting are left for a predetermined time to
cool and form a weld.
Depending on the size of pipe, socket fusion welding can either be done by hand or carried out on a
manually operated machine.
CAUTION
1. Please check the outer cover and cables of the machine first. Don´t use if it is damaged.
2. The power suppl must be earthed.
3. Water and various of kinds of liquid is prevented from entering the machine. It is prohibited to us
outside on rainy days.
4. Keep tinder far away.
5. Operators are strongly suggested to wear gloves when working.
6. For the safety and good performance of the device, only professionals are all owed to open the
machine or adjust temperature.
7. If indicators don´t change for long. It means the device is in innormal working state. Stop your work
and turn off the power immediately.
8. Turn the machine to manufacturer of rodessionals for repair when. It is out of work.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Cleaning surfaces reflow attachments not use metal objects to prevent damage to the Teflon layer.
Cleaning can be done using a wooden spatula or non-synthetic cloth material. All modifications and
repairs welding may be performed only by authorized personnel.
WARNING!
Clean Always disconnect the power supply and the cold condition (not enough just to turn off the
switch)! Do not use solvents! Be careful not to be
any liquid into the device: eg. for cleaning and outdoor use. Liquids entering the unit may cause
damage.
