Wireless Portable Only (TLV-WPO1000) Motorcycle Kit

GENERAL – READ THROUGHLY BEFORE STARTING INSTALLATION

The Setcom Wireless Portable Only motorcycle kit is comprised of two main
components, the Handlebar Transmitter MWH-31 and Supermic Receiver SWE-
1M2A/L.

The system allows motorcycle officers to wirelessly activate the PTT function of their
VHF or UHF portable two-way radio, (Motorola, etc) worn at the belt, without the need
of cables from the officer person to the motorcycle.

The system operates on 916.48 MHz and employs FSK modulation to transmit one of
sixteen user selectable codes to the receiver for private and dedicated operation.  There
are sixteen user selectable codes that can be selected by changing the position of
Hexadecimal switches on the transmitter and receiver via wateresistant access plugs.  The
power source for the transmitter is supplied from the motorcycle battery and only
consumes power when the handlebar PTT switch is depressed.  The power source for the
receiver is supplied from the portable radio through the portable radio cable attachment.

INSTALATION:

The MWH-31 handlebar transmitter and PTT switch are mounted to the mirror assembly.
Remove the mirror mounting nut and attach the transmitter and PTT switch assembly to
the mirror shaft.  Reinsert and tighten the mirror assembly nut and adjust mirror position
to the rider’s requirements.

Route the power cable from the transmitter under the gasoline tank and the saddle to the
12 volt motorcycle battery or accessory supply bus.  The source can be continuously hot,
or from an accessory bus as the transmitter only consumes power when the handlebar
PTT switch is activated.

Attach the JEDI connector from the SWE-1M2A/L wireless supermic receiver to the
VHF / UHF portable radio.  Turn the portable radio on and the system is ready to use.
