2.2 Network settings
The following instructions indicate how to change the network configuration of the Vision Viewer
CE and FA 45 Vision Sensor. If incorrect settings are used, network connections on the Vision
Viewer CE can be lost. For safety purposes, old settings should be recorded and used again if
necessary. It may be necessary to restart the system after these steps have been completed.
To find out which IP address is authorised in your network or locally on your Vision Viewer CE,
and to carry out settings on your Vision Viewer CE, please first contact the responsible system
administrator.
The illustrations, dialogue boxes and menus shown are taken from Microsoft Windows CE
system software.
There are two basic possibilities for configuring the FA 45 Vision Sensor and setting
parameters:
1. Direct connection
2. Network connection
2.2.1 Direct connection – Setting Vision Viewer CE’s IP address
To connect the FA 45 Vision Sensor to a computer via Ethernet, the IP address settings of both devices must
correspond. The IP address in the Vision Viewer CE has the factory setting 192.168.100.101 with subnet mask =
255.255.255.0. When connecting directly, the Vision Viewer CE must be set to a fixed IP address which matches the
sensor, using the following procedure:

this opens the dialogue box „Internal Ethernet Driver Setting“
2. Select the option “Specify an IP address“ and enter a suitable IP address and subnet mask.
3. Confirm entries with OK..
4. After having changed the IP address, the Vision Viewer CE must be shut down with „Start“ and „Suspend“ in
order to save the settings.
Example:
The FA 45 Vision Sensor is supplied with the IP address
192.168.100.100 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0.
The IP address can in this example be selected between
192.168.100.1 and 192.168.100.254 with the set subnet
mask 255.255.255.0 - with the exception of the sensor’s IP
address (192.168.100.100).

sioning” (FA 45 sensor’s mounting and
operating instructions) .
