1.3 Preliminary operations
Open the carrying case and verify that it contains the following instrumentation:

2. Instructions
2.1 Steps

Check the zero calibration in pure air without gas tanks and accessories. If you are not
sure you are in the absence of gas, check the detector zero using a synthetic air gas
bottle with a concentration of 20.9% oxygen.

Take the gas bottle from the carrying case

Screw the gas valve very quickly till end of stroke to the thread on the top of the gas
bottle. During this operation a little amount of gas will be released by the gas bottle

Plug one edge of the hose into the valve connector

If necessary, insert the adapter into the calibration cap, according to the detector
head, and, if possible, screw the adaptor onto the cap internal thread

If necessary, the user can check the 'detector zero' response with a gas tank of synthe-
tic air with 20.9% of oxygen concentration

If the zero value deviates from zero, the zero can be calibrated by using either the
magnet, the calibration keyboard or by software on PC

Plug the other side of the hose to the calibration cap

Fix or screw the cap on the detector's head

Holding the gas bottle vertically, slowly open the gas valve tap counterclockwise until
the ball inside the flowmeter is positioned on the central notch. In this way a flow of
0.2 l/min is guaranteed.

Let the gas flow to the detector for nearly one minute, until the sensor has stabilised.
Keep track of the time taken with a chronometer if you want to measure the reaction
time

The measurement readout should be performed once the stabilising period is over
and while gas is still flowing to the sensor

Once the readout has been performed close the gas plug cock
