1. Introduction
1.1 Description
The calibration KIT, supplied with a carrying case, comprises the necessary instrumentation
to verify in situ the response of Sensitron' s gas detectors. This operation can be carried out
during the initial test of gas detectors, but also during scheduled calibrations.
The case comes complete with a flow regulator valve, hose and the ZMCAP/123 calibration
cap adapter that allows testing the detector letting the right gas flow to reach the sensor.
The case can also allocate 2 sample gas bottles and the calibration keypad.
The kit includes three calibration caps of different diameters in order to fit to all three de-
tection heads produced. Both gaskets and screw threads inside the cap allow an optimum
tightness between the sensing head and the cap. The hole on the bottom of the calibration
cap, must not be plugged since it guarantees a constant flow of 0,2 l/min. This condition
allows to have the ideal calibration conditions, identical to that adopted in our Laboratory
for the initial factory calibration.
The valve complete with flow meter is to be mounted on the gas bottle to allow a gas outlet
at a controlled velocity to obtain accurate data to verify the sensing element status.
Please refer to the IEC 60079-29-2, that gives guidance on the selection, installation, use and
maintenance of gas detectors intended for use in industrial and commercial applications.
1.2 Calibration periodicity
Sensitron s.r.l schedules calibration checks with a specific time interval, as described in the
following scheme:
Table 1) Calibration intervals, depending on the sensor type and the installation zone

If the gas detector is installed in non-classified areas, test the equipment following the time
intervals described for Zone 2.
Verify the functionality of the gas detector in case of alarm or over-range error. In case of
anomalies, calibrate the gas detector and contact Sensitron assistance.
