Gas System
General
The gas cylinder locker is situated in the cockpit. It contains the regulator and the on/off valve. When leaving the
boat for any length of time, or if gas odour is detected, the valve must be CLOSED. The locker door must not be
obstructed as the locker and valve must be quickly accessible in case of an emergency. The locker drain, at the
bottom, allows ventilation overboard. Care must be taken not to obstruct this vent.
Flame Failure Device (FFD)
The FFD is fitted to all gas installations on Sealine boats. This means that should the flame be extinguished
accidentally the gas supply will be automatically turned off. This will reset when you turn the respective control knob
off. You may have to wait a few seconds. When lighting a burner fitted with FFD you will have to turn and hold the
control knob in for approximately 15 seconds.
Gas Cylinder Replacement
Caution should be taken when changing the gas cylinder. DO NOT SMOKE or use an OPEN FLAME. Make sure
that the regulator is closed before removing a cylinder. To remove a cylinder first hold the regulator in one hand
and using the other hand unscrew the cylinder from the regulator taking care not to drop the cylinder. When fitting a
new cylinder take care not to cross thread it onto the regulator. Changing the cylinder can be achieved inside the
gas locker, this is recommended so that any escaping gas will fall into the locker and then be vented overboard.
If you carry a spare gas cylinder it should always be stored in the gas locker whether full or empty. There is space
allowed for two.
DO NOT
use the gas locker as a storage locker. It is for gas cylinders
only.
Gas Valves
The main gas valve is situated in the gas locker and is part of the regulator on top of the gas cylinder. Turn the
knob fully clockwise this will close the valve. When leaving the boat for any length of time, or if any gas odour is
detected, this valve must be CLOSED.
Additionally each appliance has its own isolation valve. This valve can be found inside the galley close to the
relevant appliance. If the appliance is not in use its isolation valve should be in the closed position.
Fuel burning appliances consume cabin oxygen and release products of combustion into the cabin. Your Sealine is
fitted with fixed ventilation, however whilst using gas appliances we strongly recommend additional ventilation via
an open window and cabin door.
DO NOT obstruct any of the ventilation grills throughout the boat.
DO NOT use gas-cooking appliances for heating the cabin.
Never use a flame to test for gas leaks. Any gas odour detected should be investigated and rectified immediately,
by a registered Gas installer before the system is re-used.
Cooking Appliances
Operation manuals for cooking appliances are supplied in your Owners Pack. Please read thoroughly before the
appliances are used. Please contact your Sealine dealer if these manuals have been omitted.
Never leave the craft unattended whilst appliances are in use.
DO NOT use cooking appliances when underway.
The sliding galley cover must be closed with the safety catch engaged when underway.
Gas Regulator
The gas system is fitted with a gas pressure regulator. This controls and maintains a uniform gas pressure within
the system. THE REGULATOR MUST NOT BE REMOVED.
System Maintenance
A registered gas installer who will comply with the relevant Health and Safety regulations should check your gas
installation at least annually. Checks to the copper pipe work and fittings for corrosion or wear should be carried out
as well as checks to the flexible hose in the gas locker for damage or signs of perishing.
Do not use solutions containing ammonia for testing pipe work. Regularly check that the gas locker vent is clear.
