4.  APPLICATIONS

5.  INSTRUCTIONS

5.1.    

REMOVAL

5.1.1.   

Rotate the crankshaft clockwise to TDC on cylinder number one.

5.1.2. 

  

Ensure the crankshaft pulley timing marks are aligned (fig.1)

5.1.3. 

  

Remove the starter motor and fit the VSE5935 Flywheel Locking Tool. (not supplied)

5.1.4.   

Remove the crankshaft pulley bolts and crankshaft pulley.

5.1.5.   

Remove the timing belt lower cover, ensure the crankshaft sprocket timing mark is aligned with the timing mark on the cylinder  

 

 

block. (fig.2)

5.1.6. 

  

Fit the VSE5939-01 Crankshaft Locking Tool using the hex bolts supplied. (fig.2)

5.1.7.   

Slacken the tensioner pulley securing bolt.

5.1.8.   

Fit the VSE5939-03 Camshaft Sprocket Holding Tool.

5.1.9.   

Use a suitable ½” drive wrench with the camshaft sprocket holding tool as a counter hold and slacken the camshaft sprocket bolts.

5.1.10. 

R

otate the camshaft sprocket until the sprocket timing marks are aligned with the timing marks on the cylinder head. (fig.3)

5.1.11. 

Fit the VSE5939-04 Tensioner Pulley Holding Tool and turn the tensioner pulley anti-clockwise and lock into place with the  

 

 

VSE5939-05 Tensioner Locking Pin.

5.1.12. 

Remove the Tensioner Pulley Holding Tool.

5.1.13. 

Remove the timing belt.

5.2.    

INSTALLATION

5.2.1.   

Fit new guide pulley and guide pulley bolt, tighten to 42-54 Nm.

5.2.2. 

  

Fit new tensioner pulley and pulley bolt, at this stage just finger tighten the bolt. Lock the tensioner into its retracted position with   

 

the VSE5939-05 Tensioner Locking Pin.

5.2.3. 

  

Ensure the camshaft, (fig.3) crankshaft, (fig.4) and high pressure fuel pump (fig.5) timing marks are aligned correctly.

5.2.4.   

Fit the timing belt and ensure the timing marks on the belt are aligned with the timing marks on the sprockets.

5.2.5.   

Remove the VSE5939-05 Tensioner Locking Pin.
