Vibration

a. Operating - normal

The drive as installed for normal operation, shall comply with the complete specified performance while
subjected to continuous vibration not exceeding

5-22 Hz @ .02 inches (0.5 mm) displacement
22-350 Hz @ 0.5 G

Vibration may be applied in the X, Y, or Z axis.

b. Operating - abnormal

5-22 Hz @ .03 inches (0.7 mm) displacement
22-350 Hz @ 0.75 G (X, Y, or Z axis)

c. Non-operating

The limits of non-operating vibration shall apply to all conditions of handling and transportation. This
includes both isolated drives and integrated drives.

The drive shall not incur physical damage or degraded performance as a result of continuous vibration not
exceeding

5-22 Hz @ 0.081 inches (2.05 mm) displacement
22-350 Hz @ 2.00 G

Vibration may be applied in the X, Y, or Z axis.

6.4.5

Air cleanliness

The drive is designed to operate in a typical office environment with minimal environmental control.

6.4.6

Acoustics

Sound power during idle mode shall be 4.1 bels typical when measured to Seagate’s 30553-001 specification.
