S2073
CAPRIOL
wing and wing fixing plate.
34.
Remove the wing from the fuselage and carrefully drill
8mm hole trough the wing mount washer for the captive nut
[B2-8]. Glue (CA, Epoxy) captive nut [B2-8] to the wing mount
washer. Attach the wing to the fuselage using screw [B2-7].
Glue (Uhu Por, Epoxy) the cutted lower part of the fuselage to
the wing. Check the correct position. If necessary sand the
edges.
35.
Using the drawing as a guide, slide the wheels [B2-4] and
the spring retainers [B2-5] on the undercarriage leg wires [5]
to secure the wheels.
If using brushless motor Mutron S89U400R.
36.
Connect the speed controller - check the direction of prop
shaft rotation. Attach the motor to the motor former with
bolts.
If using standard 400 motor with gearbox.
37.
Shorten the motor shaft (using a saw or file) to 7mm length
and attach the pinion with the glue. Take great care to avoid
glue coming into contact with the motor’s front bearing!
38.
Slide the motor into the gearbox. Solder the suppressors
to the motor as per motor instructions, and connect the speed
controller - check the direction of prop shaft rotation. Attach
the gearbox and motor to the motor former with parker screws.
If using brushless motor Mutron S89ATI16.15.8
39.
Connect the speed controller - check the direction of prop
shaft rotation. Attach the motor to the motor former with
bolts.
40.
When connecting electronic equipment, follow the
instructions supplied. When using a four-channel receiver you
must connect the aileron servos through an Y lead to one
channel. If using a five-channel receiver you may connect the
aileron servos independently.
41.
Refer to the drawing for a recommended arrangement of
equipment. You may lead the receiver aerial out either from
the top of fuselage behind the cockpit to the fin, or from the
fuselage belly.
42.
Cut the spinner [B3-3] and the propeller spinner [B3-4]
from the moulding and sand the edges exactly along the marked
line.
43.
Glue (CA, Uhu Por) the spinner support plate [DC1-10] to
the back of the spinner backplate [B3-4]. Glue (CA, Uhu Por)
the 10 mm long blocks, cut to length from the wood strip [B2-
11], to the front surface of the propeller spinner backplate
[B3-4] as per drawing.
44.
Align the spinner with the backplate, pre-drill four holes of
1,5 mm diameter and cut the openings for propeller blades.
45.
When attaching the propeller unit, ensure that the spinner
does not wobble and does not touch the fuselage. Slide the
collet, propeller backplate, spinner backplate, propeller and
washer, to the gearbox or motor shaft, tightening the whole
stack with the nut. Finally place the spinner and secure it with
four screws [B2-12]. Using this spinner is recommended with
standard motor speed „400“ with gearbox or with motor ì-tron
S89U400R.
46.
Cut out with knife or with scissors cockpit [B3-2] and canopy
[B3-1] from the molding leaving an extra 2 mm border. Then
trim the edges to fit to the fuselage.
47.
Glue (CA) cockpit [B3-2] and canopy [B3-1] together. Trim
the edges to fit to the fuselage [1]. Glue (CA) balsa block [B2-
10] and canopy wire [B2-9] to the cocpit. Check, that canopy
wire [B2-9] leave 10 mm protruding the canopy front edge.
48.
Glue (PU, Epoxy) the canopy former [DC1-9] to the
fuselage. Attach canopy to the fuselage [1]. On first attach
the canopy to the back side of fuselage, then filt its and push
front.
49.
Use the details shown check the throw and direction of the
control surfaces. If necessary, change the position of control
rods on the servo control horns or control surface horns.
50.
If you have not applied all decals during the assembly, now
is the right moment to do so.
51.
Check the centre of gravity (CG) position with batteries in
place. It should lie between 65-70 mm back from the wing
leading edge. For first flights it is recommended that the balance
point be at the forward position. Once the motor, speed
controller and receiver are installed, the battery pack can be
attached to the battery mounting plate using hook and loop
tape or similar. The battery pack can still be moved forward or
back on the battery mounting plate to allow minor changes of
the balance point.
Flying the model.
The initial flights should take place in a complete calm or in a
very light breeze. Long grass is an advantage. Check the
model (wings, tail surfaces etc.), CG position, throw and sense
of deflection of the control surfaces and for smooth operation
of the motor / gearbox. Launch the model horizontally or into
a slight climb into wind, with the motor running at full power.
Allow the model to climb to a safe height, reduce the throttle
slightly and trim the model. Check the response of the model to
the control inputs. If your model does not handle correctly,
switch off the motor and land. If you are a complete novice,
ask a more experienced modeller for assistance.
The model will take off from the ground without problems –
even from short grass, and will perform all basic and many
advanced aerobatic manoeuvres.
We wish you many successful flights and happy landings.
