SINGLE LIGHT OPERATION
his experim ent demonstrates the operation of
a single binary output lig h t.

Using two short programming w ire s,
make the connections

Turn the power switch O N (be sure
the main power cord is plugged into a
proper o u tle t). Light 1 comes O N ’
because current flows through the lig h t.

Turn the power switch O F F and
disconnect the programming w ire s.
Power should be turned O FF and
a ll programming w ires should be
disconnected after each experim ent
is com pleted.

A ny of the lights may be operated by
connecting programming w ires from + to A
and from - to B just as was done for lig ht 1 .
M ake connections to two or more lights at once.

The lights are used in later experiments to
represent numbers.
The lig h t O F F w ill represent
a zero ( 0 ) and the lig ht O N w ill represent a one ( 1 ) .
The numbers zero ( 0 ) and one ( 1 ) are the o n ly numbers
used in the binary number system, and it is for this
reason that the lights are labeled " Binary O u tp u t."
