heavily soiled;
clearly visible soiling and stains.
Increased dosing as per the dosing recommendation.
Pre-treat or soak stains if necessary, pre-wash fabrics
or wash in the intensive programme.
l
the quantity of laundry;
with a half-full drum, reduce the quantity of detergent by
one third.
Please note:
l
Insufficient detergent;
only becomes apparent after repeated underdosing,
causes the laundry to become grey or not properly
clean,
causes the laundry to become hard (board-like)
may cause grey-brown greasy spots to form on the
laundry,
may lead to calcified heating elements.
l
Excess detergent results in;
poorer washing results,
foaming over of the detergent and breakdowns,
higher water consuption and costs,
increased washing programme length,
unnecessary environmental pollution.
Liquid detergents and start time pre-selection
(see page 58 for start time pre-selection)
Use a dosing ball in the pre-wash when using start time
pre-selection in conjunction with a liquid detergent.
Place it in the laundry.
Remove the dosing ball from the laundry at the end of
the programme!
Water softeners
Special water softening aids can be used in the water
hardness ranges 2 - 4 (13–37°fH).
Follow the instructions on the packaging!
In this case add the detergent according to hardness
range 1 (0–12°fH). First add the detergent, then softe-
ner in the same chamber. In this way the agents will be
washed in better.
Soaking agents
Add to chamber A of the detergent drawer.
Select the soak programme (see page 60).
Fabric softener, fabric conditioner
Add to chamber D. Do not exceed the «max» mark
otherwise these agents will be washed in together with
the detergent at the start of the programme and not
washed in only at the «Fabric softener» programme
cycle. Stir viscous fabric softeners with a little water to
remove any lumps before filling, to prevent blockage of
the overflow.
Bleach, stain removal salt
Powder bleaches and stain removal safts can be also
used for fabrics with bleachable spots. First fill the
detergent and then the bleach powder or stain removal
salt in chamber B. In this way the agents will be
washed in better.
Washing instructions
Sorting the laundry
Do not exceed the maximum loading quantities. This is
because overfilling detracts from the washing result and
may lead to fabric damage.
Follow the care symbols in the fabrics.
Laundry marked with the following care symbol may not
be washed in the machine:
l
do not wash
Sort the laundry by fabric type and degree of soiling.
Sort the laundry by colour. Wash whites and coloureds
separately, otherwise white laundry will become grey.
Do not wash new coloureds with other laundry due to
the risk of discoloration!
Knitwear made wholly or partly from wool must also be
labelled «non-felting» or «machine washable», otherwi-
se there is a risk of felting during the washing process.
Washing tips
u
Remove foreign bodies such as safety pins, paper
clips, coins etc from the laundry.
u
Brush out sand from the pockets and turn-ups.
u
Close zips, hooks, eyelets and Velcro closures.
u
Button up duvet covers and pillowcases and tie fabric
belts and apron strings together.
u
When washing curtains, tie up metal rollers of plastic
sliders in a laundry net or bag.
u
Wash particularly delicate laundry, such as pantyho-
se or net curtains, or small items of laundry such as
socks or handkerchiefs in a net laundry bag or pillowca-
se.
u
Turn trousers, knitwear or knitted fabrics, e.g. jer-
seys, T-shirts, sweatshirts inside out.
u
Check that brassieres are machine washable.
Wash brassieres with stiffeners in a fine-mesh laundry
bag because of the risk of the wires becoming detached
in the wash and falling through the drum perforations
with resultant damage.
Older curtains are often badly faded and weakened by
the sun. They may easily be damaged during machine
washing.
Stain removal
Wherever possible, stains should be removed or pre-
treated while they are fresh. Start by trying water and
soap (hard soap). Dab only, do not rub it on the cloth.
Stubborn and dried spots can sometimes only be remo-
ved by repeated washing or soaking.
