CHARACTERISTICS
Check (with the vehicle‘s distributor) what is the battery load capacity allowed by the alternator.
In order to have a correct mounting without overloading the alternator, and in order to protect the auxiliary
battery from premature aging, we recommend you to use batteries of the same capacity (+/- 20%)
Maximum capacity for each battery : 110Ah
Maximum load current : 40A
Connection between the electronic separator and the + batteries : with a 6mm² wire minimum.
Connection between the electronic separator and earth : with a 0.75mm² wire minimum.
Please protect each battery’s “+” terminal with a fuse.
This device should be put in a place protecting it against any water spray risk and with terminals oriented
down.
HOW IT WORKS
•
If batteries are loaded from the alternator
The main battery should be loaded first. When the voltage of this battery reaches 13.5V (± 0.1V), the auxiliary
battery is automatically connected in parallel. As long as the alternator works, both batteries are loaded
simultaneously.
•
If batteries are loaded from an external charger
If the charger is connected to the auxiliary battery’s terminals, the working principle is the same than during
a load by alternator, the auxiliary battery being the first one to be reloaded.
•
Uses 12V, without charger and alternator
Electric uses for vehicle’s equipments (pumps, fridge, heating...) will be supplied from both batteries in
parallel. When the common voltage of these two batteries reaches 12.7V (± 0.1V), the main battery (vehicle)
is automatically disconnected. The consumption of the several uses will only be supplied by the auxiliary
battery.
The electronic separator has 3 protected outputs :
-
An output S1 (on the auxiliary battery) protected by fuse 30A (F1)
-
An output S2 (on the main battery) protected by fuse 15A (F2)
-
An output S3 (on the main battery) for absorption fridge, protected by fuse 15A (F3)
The fridge is only supplied by the main battery when the engine is running (+APC information) and after a
delay of 10 seconds. Please use F1 output with compression fridges.
Please note that below the threshold decoupling, the product consumption is very close to zero.
CAREFUL
To avoid damaging the battery separator irreparably :
don’t use a of a destroyed battery.
don’t use a completely discharged battery; for example, after storage for a period of several
weeks. In this case, before starting the vehicle, check that the voltage at the battery’s terminals is up
to 11V.
