WATER NOZZLES CLEANING & ADJUSTMENT
On the HU-SOUTHWEST, it is important that the water spray nozzles (NOZ) remain
clean for optimal moist air generating performance. Unlike other Humidaire Units with a
single “plane” of water spray nozzles for the water to pass through, the HU-
SOUTHWEST forces the hot air to run through the water spray from numerous spray
nozzles forming numerous “planes” of water spray. We call this the “moisture tunnel”.
This “moisture tunnel” design keeps the performance of the HU-SOUTHWEST from
being greatly affected from just a few clogged nozzles.
Clogged nozzles can be identified by turning off flame, opening a spray chamber door
and pressing the “JOG PUMP” button on the color touch panel (TP). Sometimes a clog
can be removed by blowing into the nozzle orifice with an air nozzle if the clog is a
platelet of debris covering the hole. Normally, the nozzle has to be removed and the
mineral buildup picked or drilled out.
Aim the nozzles 30 to 45 degrees in direction of the air flow. See diagram below. If a
nozzle aims straight out into the spray chamber or toward the burner duct, water will leak
out of the burner duct and air inlet screen (SCRN2).
