2. SAFETY
These instructions contain important information which must be follo-
wed when installing and operating the device. It is therefore impera-
tive that they be read by both the installer and the operator before
the device is installed or operated.
Both the general safety points in this section and the more specific
safety points in the following sections should be noted.
2.1 Instruction symbols used in this operating manual
Safety precautions in these operating instructions which, if not
followed, could cause personal injury.
Safety precautions warning of danger due to electricity.
Used to indicate that by ignoring the relevant safe-
ty instructions, damage could be caused to the
machinery and its functions.
2.2 Staff training
The personnel installing the pump must have the appropriate qualifi-
cations for this work.
2.3 Risks incurred by failure to comply with the safety precautions
Failure to comply with the safety precautions could result in personal
injury or damage to the installation. Failure to comply with the safety
precautions could also invalidate any claim for damages.
In particular, failure to comply with these safety precautions could
give rise, for example, to the following risks :
- Failure of important pump or system functions,
- Failure of specified maintenance and repair methods,
- Personal injury due to electrical, mechanical and bacteriological
causes,
- Damage to property.
2.4 Safety considerations for the operator
The relevant accident precaution regulations must be observed.
Potential dangers caused by electrical energy must be excluded.
Local or general regulations [e.g. IEC 60364, etc.] and directives from
local energy supply companies are to be followed
2.5 Safety considerations for inspection and assembly
The operator is responsible for ensuring that inspection and assembly
are carried out by authorised and qualified personnel who have stu-
died the operating instructions closely.
Work on the installation should only be carried out once the latter has
been brought to a standstill.
2.6 Unauthorised modification and manufacture of spare parts
Alterations to the pump or installation may only be carried out with
the manufacturer's consent. The use of original spare parts and
accessories authorised by the manufacturer will ensure safety. The
use of any other parts may invalidate claims invoking the liability of
the manufacturer for any consequences.
2.7 Improper use
The operating safety of the equipment delivered is only guaranteed
for proper usage as detailed in Section 1 of the operating instructions.
All values must neither exceed nor fall below the limit values given in
the catalogue or data sheet.
3. TRANSPORT AND ITERIM STORAGE
When receiving the material, check that there has been no damage
during the transport. If any defect has been stated, take the required
steps with the carrier within the allowed time.
The switchgear must be protected against moistu-
re and mechanical damage as a result of shocks
or impacts.
It may not be exposed to temperatures outside the range -10°C to
+40°C.
4. PRODUCTS AND ACCESSORIES
4.1 Description of the switchgear (See FIG. 1)
The EC DRAIN 1x4.0 switchgear is used for automatic control of a
pump. The following switches, buttons and indicators can be found
on the front of this switchgear :
4.1.1 Main switch (item 1)
0 = OFF
I = ON
4.1.2 Buttons
Automatic mode (item 7)
By pressing this pushbutton the switchgear is switched to automatic
mode.
The green DEL Automatic Mode (
item 3
) lights steadily to indicate
that the system is operational.
In automatic mode, the pump is controlled in relation to the signal
from the float switch.
In the event of a failure of the float switch ”Pump ON/OFF“ (acces-
sory), the pump is automatically switched on via the float switch
(accessory) ”high water alarm”: an optical and acoustic alarm is
issued and the collective fault signal (SSM) is active.
In automatic mode, all of the pump’s safety functions, such as elec-
tronic motor protection and WSK monitoring, are active. Attention: In
high water mode, these functions are not active.
To protect the system against flooding the high
water alarm is always active, so that the pump is
automatically switched on when the high water level is reached.
When the high water alarm is triggered, check the operating mode.
If automatic mode is switched off, reactivate it by pressing the push-
button.
