6.  Verify that the button is protruding through the hole in the 

outside face of the receiver. 

 

Hitch Plate: 

Attaching to a bicycle with a quick-release axle 

1.  Remove the quick-

release axle off the bicycle’s rear wheel 

 

2.  With the washer (if one existed) and one spring assembled 

onto the quick-release axle, insert through the hitch plate 
and then through the left side of wheel axle.  

3.  Insert the second spring and engage the nut of the quick-

release axle. 

 

4.  Orient the hitch plate so that the hitch plate sleeve is 

vertical. 

5.  Tighten the quick-release axle by following the 

manufacturer’s instructions.  

6.  Make sure that at least 4 full threads are engaged. If your 

bicycle’s quick-release axle is too short, you have to replace 
it with one that is long enough (ask your specialized bicycle 
dealer).  

 
Attaching to a bicycle with a threaded solid-axle 

 

1.  Remove the nut and spacer (if one exists) on the left side of 

the rear wheel. 

2.  Install the hitch plate over the threaded solid-axle making 

sure the hitch plate sleeve is facing upward.  

3.  Reinstall the spacer (if one existed) and tighten the nut 

properly by following 

the manufacturer’s instructions (i.e. 

assembly instructions and torque).
