Check Belt Tightness

Hold the 

Rear-Facing Belt 

Path 

with your non-dominant 

hand. Push and pull the car 

seat from side to side.
The car seat should not move 

more than 

1 in. 

(2.5 cm).

Secure Child in 

Car Seat

See pages 29-31.

Tighten Belt

Place your hand in the car 

seat and firmly push the car 

seat down and back towards 

the vehicle seat. Pull the belt 

towards you and parallel (in 

line) with the belt path as 

shown.

For the LATCH belt or Lap 

Only Vehicle Belt:

 it may 

be easier to tighten if you 

route the free end of the belt 

back into the 

Rear-Facing 

Belt Path
