10.6.2
Control Measures
Maintain the condition of the springs as per the Maintenance Guide. When loading or unloading the
Palift take care to keep body parts clear of the pinch points.
10.7
Descent Due to Spring Buckling
When the Palift is loaded there is a chance that a spring will buckle, causing the Palift to descend,
possibly displacing the load or striking a person in close proximity.
10.7.1
Risk Assessment
There is a low risk of such an occurrence. The springs have been designed against buckling.
10.7.2
Control Measures
Ensure that the springs are correctly placed in the spring caps as per the Installation Guide. When
loading or unloading the Palift take care to keep body parts clear of the pinch points.
10.8
Collision (Mobility Kit only)
The Palift could roll away if left unattended on a slope. There is the potential that the Palift could
then strike a person and cause injury.
10.8.1
Risk Assessment
The likelihood of collision depends on the environment, if steep grades are encountered, the risk of
collision is high. Injuries sustained could be serious if the Palift is loaded.
10.8.2
Control Measures
A Palift fitted with a mobile dolly kit cannot move without an engaged handle. Ensure that the handle
is removed from the unit whenever the Palift is left unattended. Refer to installation instructions
above for handle removal.
