An audible alarm warns of a potentially dangerous situation. It must not be ignored. This can
lead to injury or death. If the smoke detector activates and you are unsure what the source of
the smoke is, leave the building immediately.
Under normal operating conditions, the battery should provide power for five years. If the battery
is low, the red LED flashes approximately every 30 seconds and the detector beeps, it means
that the batteries need to be replaced. The devices are powered by one 9V battery (PP3 type).
Be sure to test the sensors after replacing the batteries.
The device trouble indication is similar to the low battery indication. If, despite the battery
replacement, the sensor continues to indicate a malfunction, contact the service center.
If the sensor does not make a sound when testing:
 Check that the battery is connected.

When starting up for the first time, wait a few seconds before testing.
 Firmly press and hold the center of the test button.

If the sensor has been muted and is operating in reduced sensitivity mode, testing may
fail. Wait 15 minutes and try again.
 Replace the batteries.
If the detector triggers an alarm but no smoke is visible:

Check the location of the smoke sensor.

Clean the smoke sensor.
If the smoke detector is making unusual noises or "chirps" intermittently:
 Check the location of the smoke sensor.

Clean the smoke sensor.
 Make sure the chirp is coming from the smoke detector. Check that the sound is not
coming from another device.

Make sure the battery does or the device not need to be replaced.
