8.1.2.3 Removing the lower plunger from the forming drum
- Stop the machine.
- Loosen the pins (3 and 4) of the lower plunger to be removed from the forming drum.
- Remove the cam (5) at the base of the forming drum.
- Turn the forming drum clockwise by using the handwheel until the lower plunger to be removed is near the slots (8)
in the base.
- Remove the guides (10 and 11) and the transfer turn-table (12).
- Use a lever to lift up all the lower plungers near the cam section (6). The plungers should be raised just enough so
that the section can be removed.
Insert a spacer in the slot that guides the lower plungers to hold them up during the operation. The spacer should be
put between the bottom of the slot and the pin bearing (3).
- Take out the spacer holding up the lower plunger that is to be removed.
- Take out the pin (3) (with bearing) of the lower plunger to be removed.
- Take out the pin (4) and bearing while holding up the lower plunger.
- The lower plunger can now be removed from the forming drum. To do this, move it down until it rests on the toothed
wheel, located under the top of the base, and then pull it up from the top by using the slot (8).
- To re-install the lower plunger, carry out the operations in reverse order, making sure the pin (4) enters the hole in
the corresponding rod (9) once the plunger has been put in.
