REMOVING MINERAL DEPOSITS
To keep your coff ee maker operating effi
ciently, you should clean away any mineral deposits
left by the water periodically, depending on the water quality in your area and how often the
appliance is used. We recommend decalcifying your coff ee maker as follows: use a solution
of white vinegar and cold water. A solution of two tablespoons (30 ml) white vinegar in one
coff ee pot of cold water works best.
1. Fill the tank with the vinegar solution to the maximum level as indicated on the water
gauge.
2. Place the glass coff ee pot on the warming plate.
3. Make sure the paper fi lter (without ground coff ee) and funnel are assembled in place.
4. Switch on the appliance and allow it to “brew” the de-scaling solution.
5. After “brewing” one cup of the solution, switch off the appliance.
6. Leave the solution to stand for 15 minutes and repeat step 3–5.
7. Switch on the appliance and run off the solution until the water tank is completely empty.
8. Rinse by operating the appliance with clean water at least 3 times.
HINTS FOR GREAT-TASTING COFFEE
• A clean coff ee maker is essential for making great-tasting coff ee. Regularly clean the
coff ee maker as specifi ed in the “CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE” section. Always use
fresh, cold water in the coff ee maker.
• Store unused ground coff ee in a cool, dry place. After opening a pack of ground coff ee,
reseal it tightly and store it in a refrigerator to maintain its freshness.
• For an optimum coff ee taste, buy whole coff ee beans and fi nely grind them just before
brewing.
• Do not reuse ground coff ee since this will greatly reduce the fl avour of the coff ee.
Reheating coff ee is not recommended, as coff ee is at its peak fl avour immediately after
brewing.
• Clean the coff ee maker when over-extraction causes oiliness. Small oil droplets on the
surface of brewed, black coff ee are due to the extraction of oil from the ground coff ee.
• Oiliness may occur more frequently if heavily roasted coff ees are used.
