PREPARING THE FRUIT/VEGETABLES
o
Always use fresh fruit and vegetables.
o
Carefully wash the fruit or vegetables, remove any hard parts, stone any fruit with
stones, core any fruit with a lot of pips or seeds, such as melons, remove the leaves
from the celery. Only use artichoke hearts in the juicer.
o
Not all types of fruit or vegetables have to be peeled. Types with thin, smooth peel
(apples, pears, peaches, apricots or tomatoes), press very well with their peel/skin
left on.
o
It is not possible to achieve a good juicing with soft fruits (banana, papaya, mango,
avocado, etc.).
o
You get the greatest yield of juice with the hardest possible fruit or vegetables.
•
USE AND STORAGE OF THE JUICE
o
IMPORTANT: All juices should be used straight away because they oxidise quickly
with the air, which impairs their flavour and colour.
§
To reduce the effects of oxidisation and changes in colour, add a few drops of
lemon juice to the pressed juice (especially with carrot, apple and pear juice).
§
If you have pressed the fruit/vegetables a long time before you are going to use
the juice, cover it well and store it in the refrigerator.
o
CAUTION:
Do not store the juice for longer than 24 hours.
o
It is completely normal to have a little pulp from the fruit in the juice. This enhances
the flavour and increases its nutritional value.
•
USING THE LEFTOVER PULP
o
The pulp that is left over in the container can be used in sauces, soups or jams, etc.
o
Cook the pulp of the vegetables or fruit for around 30 minutes on a low heat.
