Operation
For portable operation powered from the batteries, it is recommended to use
the R&S
TSMA6B-BP always with 2 batteries in the bay. The batteries
should have a comparable charging state as they are discharged simultane-
ously.

Operation Modes
●
Standalone mode
In the standalone mode, the R&S
TSMA6B-BP is used without an
R&S
TSMA6/6B. The R&S
TSMA6B-BP handles battery charging and output
power path switching. The charging state of the batteries can be read from the
rear panel LEDs only when an external DC supply is connected (see
In the standalone mode without connected DC power (battery mode), there is
no rear panel LED display.

Host-Controlled mode
The R&S
TSMA6B-BP is used in combination with a R&S
TSMA6/6B. Charg-
ing info is provided via the SMBus interface of the docking connector (see
Chapter 5.2, "Rear Panel View"
on page 27). The rear panel LEDs are con-
trolled by R&S
TSMA6/6B. Charging state and remaining battery power are
displayed when the R&S
