CARING FOR YOUR DETHATCHER
Cleaning (wear gloves)
It is important that you keep your dethatcher
in a clean condition. After each use remove
all grass cuttings that have collected in and
around the air intakes. When dry these could
become a fire hazard.
Remove grass cuttings from all air intakes
using a soft brush.
Important
Do not use water - this could cause a fatal
electric shock.
Do not use solvents or any other chemical
cleaning agents to clean your dethatcher
- these could damage plastic parts.
Before winter storage
Thoroughly clean the dethatcher, especially
the air intakes and around the fan. Check the
electric cable, carefully ensuring that there are
no cuts or other damage. Coil the mains cable
carefully ensuring that there are no kinks.
Store the dethatcher in a dry location and
where it is protected from being damaged.
MAINTENANCE
Always ensure that the dethatcher is switched
off and the plug removes from the main
supply before making any adjustments or
maintenance procedures.
Always wear sturdy gloves when handling and
changing blades as they can be very sharp.
Keep the tools air vents unclogged and clean
at all times.
Regularly check to see if any dust or foreign
matter has entered the grilles near the motor
and around the start/stop switch. Use a soft
brush to remove any accumulated dust or
foreign matter. Wear safety glasses to protect
your eyes while cleaning. (Fig H)
Re-lubricate all moving parts at regular
intervals.
If the body of the dethatcher needs
cleaning, wipe it with a soft damp cloth. A
mild detergent can be used but no product
containing alcohol, petrol or other cleaning
agent.
Never use caustic agents to clean plastic
