IMPORTANT Adjustment Notes
• SELECT Cushioning Products are suitable for progressive positioning, allowing
gradual changes to be made to your current posture. If you experience muscle
fatigue or pain as a result of your new sitting position, readjust the cushion to a
less stressful position, with the assistance of your clinician. Continue with gradual
changes until the desired posture is achieved.
• You, your clinicians and / or caregivers should check the cushion daily to ensure
that you have not bottomed out (i.e. lost air and sitting on the base of the cushion).
If you bottom out, the therapeutic value of the cushion is lost. You should also
check to be sure the cushion is not over-filled with air. The cushion will work best
with approximately
1
/
2
” or 1.25 cm of air between you and its base.
• You must adjust the air volume in a SELECT Cushioning Product with the ISOFLO
Memory Control in the UNLOCKED (green knob pushed toward center) position.
This is critical in allowing the cushion to fully conform to fit your unique shape.
Once you have adjusted the air volume and closed the valve, you may proceed with
the positioning functions described in Steps 7 and 8.
• SELECT Cushioning Products may be affected by changes in altitude. You may
have to repeat Steps 1 - 8 above as you change altitudes.
Cleaning and Disinfecting Your SELECT Cushioning Product
Cleaning and disinfecting are two separate processes. Cleaning must precede
disinfection.
To clean a SELECT Cushioning Product, deflate the cushion, close the valve, and
place in a large sink. Gently scrub the air cells and the spaces between them with
a soft plastic bristle brush, sponge, or washcloth. ROHO suggests using a liquid
dishwashing or laundry detergent or other general-purpose cleaning product. For
institutional cleaning, a general housekeeping disinfectant cleaner may be used.
To clean the cover, remove it from the cushion and machine wash in cold water
using a liquid laundry detergent or other general purpose cleaning product. Air
dry. Do not use heat or bleach.
To disinfect a SELECT Cushioning Product, use a germicidal product that meets
infection control needs. ROHO suggests a disinfectant with tuberculocidal
properties. Follow the manufacturer’s dilution directions. For home disinfection,
use solutions of
1
/
2
cup liquid household bleach per quart of water (125 ml bleach
to 1 liter of water). Keep the clean cushion wet with bleach solution for 10
minutes. Rinse thoroughly, and dry.
To disinfect the cover, use a phenolic-based disinfectant, such as LYSOL
®
Disinfectant. Do not use heat or bleach. Do not autoclave.
