the spool for re-assembly (See Fig. Z).
6) Insert each end of the cutting lines through the
eyelets in the cutting head and locate the spool
over the spindle. (See Fig. AA)
7) Once the spool is in place, apply pressure on the
spool and compress the spring. Pull each end of
the lines sharply to unlock the line from the slots.
8) Continue to apply pressure to the spool until the
knob can be threaded
anti-clockwise
onto the
spindle. Tighten the bump head knob securely
(See Fig. AB&AC).
8. fuEL CAP
A leaking fuel cap is a fire hazard and must be
replaced immediately.
The fuel cap contains a non-serviceable filter and
a check valve. A clogged fuel filter will cause poor
engine performance. If performance improves when
the fuel cap is loosened, check the valve to see if it
is faulty and also check the filter for clogging. Then
tighten the fuel cap to check if the performance
improves. If not replace the fuel cap.
9. fuEL fILTER (See fig. Ad)
Fuel tank is fitted with a filter (c). Filter is situated
at the free end of fuel pipe and can be picked out
through fuel port with a piece of hooked wire.
Check the fuel filter periodically. Do not allow dust to
enter the fuel tank. Clogged filter will make it difficult
for the engine to start and may cause abnormalities
in engine performance.
When filter is dirty, replace.
When the inside of the fuel tank is dirty, clean it by
rinsing the tank out with petrol.
When the fuel filter is replaced back into the tank it
must sit at the bottom edge of the fuel tank when in
use.
STORING A UNIT
1. Perform all the general maintenance
recommended in the Maintenance Section of your
User Manual.
2. Clean exterior of engine, drive shaft assembly,
debris shield and line head.
3. Drain fuel from the fuel tank.
4. After fuel is drained, start engine.
5. Run engine at idle until unit stops. This will purge
the carburetor of fuel.
6. Allow engine to cool (approx. 5 minutes).
7. Using a spark plug wrench, remove the spark plug.
8. Pour 1 teaspoon of clean 2-cycle oil into the
combustion chamber. Pull starter rope slowly
several times to coat internal components.
Replace spark plug.
9. Store unit in a cool, dry place away from any
source of ignition such as an oil burner, water
heater, etc.
• REMOVING A UNIT FROM STORAGE
1. Remove spark plug.
2. Pull starter rope briskly to clear excess oil from
combustion chamber.
3. Clean and gap spark plug or install a new spark
plug with proper gap.
4. Prepare unit for operation.
5. Fill fuel tank with proper fuel / oil mixture. See
Fuel and Lubrication Section.
Warning 2 Stroke fuel when stored for an extended
period of time and this can sometimes be as little as
a month will go stale. It loses the gasses required
for combustion and may render starting difficulties.
The easiest and recommended option is not to store
fuel for extended periods, you should empty out all
fuel in both your machine and fuel container and
start fresh with new fuel at the beginning of each
new season.
