Redundancy Module
The redundancy module 1606-XLERED20 is equipped with two input
channels, which are individually decoupled using MOSFET technology. Using
MOSFETs instead of diodes reduces the heat generation and the voltage drop
between input and output. The 1606-XLERED20 does not require an additional
auxiliary voltage and is self-powered even if there is a short circuit across the
output.
Due to the low power losses, the unit is slender and only requires 32 mm (1.26
in.) width on the DIN rail.
The 1606-XLERED20 can be used for N+1 and 1+1 redundancy systems.

Redundancy Module with
Automated Load Sharing
The redundancy module 1606-XLERED20Y is equipped with two input
channels, which are individually decoupled using MOSFET technology. Using
MOSFETs instead of diodes reduces the heat generation and the voltage drop
between input and output. The 1606-XLERED20Y does not require an
additional auxiliary voltage and is self-powered even if there is a short circuit
across the output.
Due to the low power losses, the unit is slender and only requires 32 mm (1.26
in.) width on the DIN rail.
The 1606-XLERED20Y is optimized for 1+1 redundancy systems.
Compared to the 1606-XLERED20, the 1606-XLERED20Y is featured with an
automated load sharing between the connected power supplies. The
1606-XLERED20Y monitors the function of the redundancy circuitry and
provides a signal if the output current is too high. This could help prevent
redundancy if one power supply fails.
