Preparations
Purge gas
To minimize the risk of leaks when measuring toxic or reactive gases, always
purge the interior of the system when in use (when sample gas is circulated or
when there is a possibility that remnants of sample gas are present).
Purging is also required under the following conditions which may adversely
affect the optical system or electrical circuitry of the unit. Note that this product
is not explosion-proof.
- Sample gas temperature is lower than ambient temperature, causing
condensation in the particle detector cell.
- Corrosive vapors are present in the vicinity of the system.
- The ambient temperature or the sample gas temperature is very high,
causing the system may malfunction.
To purge, use gas as described below. The two PURGE connectors on the unit
can be used in either direction.
Purge gas conditions
- Inert gas such as clean, dry nitrogen gas
- Temperature 15 to 30ºC
- Flow rate 3 to 10 L/min
- Pressure max. 100 kPa (gauge pressure)
The PURGE connectors on this unit are male VCR connectors with a joint
diameter of 1/4 inch (6.35 mm). Connect the joints correctly, using the
prescribed procedure for VCR joints.
WARNING
When performing measurement of toxic
or reactive gases, connect a constant
source of inert gas to the PURGE inlet
connector and connect the PURGE outlet
connector to a suitable exhaust system.
