SYMPTOM
A duplex jam or Z-fold jam may occur if a duplex print job is performed
Note:

This symptom has a greater tendency to occur under low-temperature conditions.
-
Once the symptom occurs, it will continue to occur.
CAUSE
The motor torque of duplex bypass motors from a specific lot was higher than the
specification maximum. This increased the level of vibration during motor rotation, which
led to resonance when the vibration reached a certain frequency. Eventually, this caused
the motor to disengage and rotate in idle.
SOLUTION
Production line
The following changes were made from June 2009 production of the Model Al-P1
mainframes:
1. Wheels were added to the motor pulley to minimize resonance as a provisional
countermeasure.
2. An extra check was added to further ensure that the motor torque does not exceed
the specification maximum and change to the new parts number as a permanent
countermeasure.
Note:
The motor after the above additional check does not contain additional wheel in note
1 above.

Replace the duplex bypass motor with the following new part:
