Resetting the Overheat Switch

The  overheat  switch  will  open  circuit  (trip)  when  the  detected
temperature reaches 95°C ± 4.5°C and must be manually reset by
pressing  and  releasing  the  reset  button  on  the  overheat  switch
once temperatures have fallen to

≤ 90°C. The overheat switch is a

safety  backup  in  case  the  hot  water  outlet  85°C  shut  down
(software) function does not operate.

If the overheat switch trips, determine cause of fault. Refer to 'Fault Finding
Chart

– Red LED 7 Flash Indication' on page 27.

Adjusting the Ignition Rod Gap

The  ignition  rod  gap  is  factory  set  and  does  not  normally  require  adjusting.  However,  if
required, the gap can be checked and adjusted as follows:

If  adjusting  the  ignition  rod  gap  during  the  following  procedure;  do  not
bend the ignition rod without holding with long nose pliers as described or
the ceramic will crack rendering the ignition rod inoperable.

1.  Remove the pilot assembly shield by following steps 1 ~ 4 of

component replacement procedure 5 on page 51.

2.  Check  the  ignition  rod  gap  by  measuring  between  the  tip  of

the  ignition  rod  and  the  closest  part  of  the  pilot  hood.  The
gap should be 3.5 ~ 4.0 mm.

3.  If  the  gap  requires  adjusting,  remove  the  ignition  rod,  hold

the  ignition  rod  metal  section  with  a  pair  of  long  nose  pliers
and gently bend the tip of the ignition rod with a pair of pliers
until  the  correct  gap  is  obtained  (to  remove  the  ignition  rod
refer to component replacement procedure 8 on page 52).

Adjusting the Flame Sensor

The flame sensor angle is factory set and does not normally require adjusting. However, if
required, the angle can be checked and adjusted as follows:

If  adjusting  the  flame  sensor  during  the following  procedure;  do  not  bend
the  sensor  rod  without  holding  with  long  nose  pliers  as  described  or  the
ceramic will crack rendering the sensor inoperable.

1.  Remove  the  flame  sensor  assembly  (refer  to  component

replacement procedure 9 on page 53).

2.  Place the assembly on a flat surface (such as on a table) and

view from the right side. The flame rod should be at 90° to the
ceramic as depicted in the 'Right Side View' illustration.

3.  Rotate assembly so that the 'Top View' is seen. The flame rod

measurements  should  be  as  depicted  in  the  'Top  View'
illustration.  Note:  Place  assembly  near  edge  of  table  so  that
measurements can be accurately obtained.

4.  If  the  assembly  requires  adjusting,  hold  the  flame  rod  metal

section with a pair of long nose pliers and gently bend the tip
of  the  probe  with  a  pair  of  pliers  until  the  correct
alignment/measurements are obtained.
