1.
Cut (2) two 1x4 trim boards to a length of 72-1/4".

Install 1x4 trim to the front corners, flush with the siding
on the sidewalls and 3-1/2" below the top 2x4.

Set a pre-built porch beam on the
1x4 trim board and a porch post.

Install beam flush with top
of 2x4 wall plate.
Hold in place with a 2-1/2"
wood screw.

Screw post to floor with 2-1/2"
screws. Make sure post is plumb
before nailing.
5.
Install a post and beam on the
opposite corner.
Step 11 Install Porch Posts & Beams
2x4-68-1/2" Tie plate

Set front beam on the corner posts.
Toenail beam to corner posts with
8d galv. nails.
7.
Install 68-1/2" long 2x4 over the
sidewalls and side beams. Install
the 2x4 tie plate 2-3/4" from the
front face of the beam and post.
