5.2 User Interface
The initial view presented to the user is for the default device. It comprises sonar data
displays and relevant information. There are two sets of tabbed window elements
indicated by the two framed areas in
Figure 7 . The upper tabs are for data displays while
the lower tabs are for sonar controls. A menu bar is located above the sonar data display
area.

Upper display tabs give access to different ways of displaying sonar data
and system information. Some of the display tabs contain a separate set of
tabs providing the operator with additional options for viewing the sonar data.
Lower sonar control tabs give access to a number of menu settings for
controlling the sonar and aiding the bottom detection process. Some of the
control tabs provide recording options and I/O module settings (see
section
5.7 below ).
Menu selections include the Configuration menu with several options for
system configuration (see section 4 System Configuration) .
