5.7 Sonar Control Tabs
5.7.1 Main Sonar Settings
The Main Sonar Settings tab is the control point for the projector and receiver units.
The last user settings are stored and will be recalled upon system startup.

NOTE
For all sliders on the Main Sonar Settings tabs, the new settings will not be sent until
the mouse has released control of the sliders.
5.7.1.1 Set the Range
The Range setting determines how far the SeaBat will “see”. The range settings are
operator selected. There are multiple settings in discrete increments ranging from 5 to
either 300 meters for 400kHz operation or 750 meters for 200kHz operation.
Select the appropriate range scale to keep the horizontal bottom image at or above the
widest part of the sonar wedge:
Figure 20: Range Setting Diagrams
Diagram A depicts a proper range setting. Diagram B depicts an acceptable range
setting for a swath that is beginning to fade due to the effects of attenuation and
spreading loss. Diagram C depicts an incorrect range setting. Notice that the still-
useable ends of the swath are being cut off by the limits of the range setting.
For additional examples on incorrect range settings and possible solutions, see
section
