DENSITY4/5 and Universal Display
By connecting your DENSITY4/5 to the Reichert Universal Display, you can control the instrument in the
remote mode.
Please connect all devices - no matter if it is another measuring instrument, a control unit (e.g. keyboard)
or a printer - before you start your Universal Display. A single printer or a keyboard could be connected to
any free port, but if you want to connect your Universal Display to the DENSITY4/5 series you need to be
sure of the naming of each Serial orUSB port. The Serial Interface port is COM1 internally and the four
USB ports are COM 2 to COM 5 (refer to the figure below). If you use them with the Reichert USB / Serial
Converter please connect those devices in sequential order (do not skip a port).
Note: The default connection for connecting only the DENSITY4/5 is COM1. If another instrument is con-
nected to the Serial port (COM1) then any other sequential serial port may be used with the Serial to USB
converter supplied with the instrument.

Note: Please connect the DENSITY4/5 that you want to use in combination with the Universal Display
before you turn on the display!
Just use the delivered serial cable to connect the DENSITY4/5 and the Universal Display.
One end of the cable has to be connected to the Reichert serial port on the DENSITY4/5.

The other end of the cable may be connected to the Serial Port on the Universal Display.
