In multiple Gemini hookups, the

“+20 mA SRC”

terminal of two Geminis provide

the 20 mA source current for both the Serial Input loop and Serial Output loop. When

more than one unit is connected to a printer, only one Gemini can transmit data at any

given time. If another Print Request terminal is activated while the printer is still

printing, two Geminis will transmit to the one printer at the same time, resulting in a

“garbled”

print-out.

In both configurations, the Baud rate switches of the Gemini

(s)

are to be set to 1200

baud. Refer to

“Current Loop Installation”

section to set up the Baud Rate, Print

Options, and Unit Address. The DMPC printer has been factory set to operate with the

Gemini 2000 and does not require any set-up.

CONNECTING TO AN RLC PRINTER

One or several Gemini 2000s

(with Serial Communications

option)

can be set up to operate with an RLC Model DMPC

printer. The two applications show the wiring diagrams for single

and multiple Gemini hookups to the printer. Both loops

(transmit

and receive)

are used with the Model DMPC printer. The printer

sends a busy signal on the Gemini’s receive loop, which prevents

the Gemini from overrunning the printer. In the single Gemini

hookup, the

“DC OUT”

terminal, current limited with a 680 ohm

resistor

(provided with the printer)

, is used to obtain the source

current for the Gemini Serial Output loop. The Gemini’s

“+20 mA

SRC”

terminal provides the current for the Serial Input Loop.
