Chapter 6. Red Hat Network Website
6.3.3. Organization Information
The
Organization Info
page allows Organization Administrator to change the customer password for
the corporate account. This ID and password combination is used by new users who wish to join the
organization’s account.
To change the password, type the new password in the
New Password
text field and click
Change
Password
.
6.3.4. Activation Keys
RHN Enterprise customers can generate activation keys through the RHN website. Each unique key
can then be used to register the RHL system, entitle the system to RHN Enterprise, subscribe the
system to specific channels, and subscribe the system to RHN system groups through the command
line utility
rhnreg_ks
from the
rhn_register
package. Thus, channel and group subscriptions
can be automated along with registration, without having to run the
Red Hat Network Registration
Client
on each client system and entitle each system through the RHN website.
Note
Version 2.7.20 or higher of the
rhn_register
package is required. It is highly recommended that you
use the latest version before using activation keys.
To generate an activation key:
1. Select
Your RHN
=>
Activation Keys
from the left navigation bar.
2. Click the
Generate Activation Key
button.
3. Provide the following information:
•
Description
— User-defined description to identify the generated activation key.
•
Usage Limit
: — The number of times the key can be used to register a system before the
activation key is disabled.
•
Channels
— Channels to subscribe the system to as applicable.
•
Groups
— System groups to subscribe the system to after registering it.
4. Click
Submit
.
After creating the unique key, it appears in the list of activation keys, along with the number of times
it has been used.
To change information about a key, such as the channels, click
edit
beside the key in the activation
key list. Make any changes, and click the
Submit
key.
To delete a key, click
edit
beside the key in the activation key list, and click the
Delete Key
button.
If you do not want the key to be used to activate a system, you can disable it by unselecting the
corresponding checkbox under the
Enabled
column in the activation keys list. The key can be re-
enabled by selecting the checkbox.
To use an activation key, as root from a shell prompt on the system to be registered, use the
rhnreg_ks
command. For example:
rhnreg_ks --serialnumber=7202f3b7d218cf59b764f9f6e9fa281b
