Audio
The
Audio
section of the
Setup Menu
allows you to configure audio output options.
1.
Digital Out :
Sets the output format for S/PDIF digital coaxial and optical connections for use with a Dolby
Digital and DTS compatible home theater amplifier.
•
Bitstream
– Forces audio in compressed bitstream format for decoding through the amplifier, if the
amplifier can decode Dolby Digital and / or DTS content.
•
PCM
– When this option is selected, compressed audio bitstreams will be decoded by the player. This
setting is recommended when the S/PDIF output is connected directly to a home theater amplifier
without advanced audio decoding functions.
•
Off
– No digital audio output via S/PDIF.
2.
Down Mix
(UBR-X200) : Down mix is the process of converting multi-channel audio to a smaller number of
channels. For example, a 7.1 source can be converted to stereo. Down mix allows you to match the audio
output of the player with the number of channels available in your home theater installation. To change the
down mix setting, press the OK button when the cursor is on the Down Mix option. The following modes
are available:
•
LT/RT
– Left Total/Right Total. The center and surround channels are mixed into the two front
channels according to the LT/RT matrix. A Dolby Pro Logic receiver will decode the two-channel audio
into surround audio.
•
Stereo
– This mode down mixes multi-channel audio to 2-channel stereo output. For original stereo
content the output will not change. For original multi-channel content the surround and center channels
will be mixed with the left and right front channels. This is recommended for use with TV sets or stereo
receiver/amplifiers.
3.
Max Sampling Frequency :
Allows you to set the maximum output sampling rate for digital S/PDIF coaxial
and optical connections for use with a Dolby Digital and DTS compatible home theater amplifier.
•
48k LPCM
– Forces down-mixed 2-channel in PCM digital audio format, and sets the maximum
sample rate to 48kHz. This is supported by most receivers/amplifiers.
•
96k LPCM
– Forces down-mixed 2-channel in PCM digital audio format and sets the maximum sample
rate to 96kHz. It can result in better audio quality but ensure the receiver/amplifier can support it.
•
192k LPCM
– Forces down-mixed 2-channel in PCM digital audio format and sets the maximum
sample rate to 192kHz. It can result in better audio quality but ensure the receiver/amplifier can
support it.
4.
DRC
: Allows you to set the Dynamic Range Compression (DRC). DRC can smooth out the sonic peaks
and valleys common with wide-range digital audio. Enabling DRC may make low level audio more audible
during low-level listening. Turning off DRC restores the sonic energy present in the original recording.
•
Auto
– Plays at the dynamic range specified by the disc. This option applies to certain Blu-ray Discs
only, which have DRC instructions encoded in the Dolby TrueHD audio tracks.
•
On
– Turn on DRC for all Dolby and DTS audio formats. This option applies to all DVD and Blu-ray
Discs.
•
Off
– Turn off DRC.
