Remove the axle nut. Retain factory
hardware. Press the axle back through the
hub to allow for greater misalignment and
ease in the removal/installation process.
NOTE: It is imperative that the axle be
pushed back through the hub assembly
slightly. Failure to do so can lead to
damage to the CV boot or the CV joint
itself. Care MUST be taken when handling
these CV axles.
Remove the outer tie rod end nut.
Remove the tie rod end by striking the tie
rod end boss on the knuckle with a dead
blow hammer to dislodge the taper.
NOTE: Leave the nut on the end of the
joint until the tie rod breaks loose from
the knuckle.
Remove the ABS wire harness from the
upper control arm and frame rails. Cut the
Christmas tree clip off the harness. Do not
cut the ABS wire.
Remove brake caliper mounting bolts and
hang caliper out of the way. Do not hang
the caliper by the brake line. Retain
factory hardware.
