Can the remote operate your
component
This remote control is designed to operate most RCA,
GE, and Proscan products.
1. Press the component mode button you want to
operate (TV or SAT•CABLE)
2. Point the remote at the component. Press the
ON•OFF button (if the component turns on or off,
this remote will operate it).
3. If that doesn’t work, you can try programming the
remote by following the instructions below.
Programming the remote
The universal remote can be programmed to operate
most brands of remote controllable components.There
are two ways to program this remote: Direct Entry and
Automatic Code Search (both methods are described
below).
Note:The DVD button can’t be programmed on this remote.
Direct Entry
1. Turn on the component to be programmed (TV or
SAT•CABLE)
2. Look up the brand and code number(s) from the list
starting on page 14.
3. Press and hold the component button you want to
program on the remote (TV or SAT•CABLE)
4. Enter the 4-digit code from the code list for your
brand (pages 14-17).
5. Release the component button.
6. Point the remote toward the component and press
the ON•OFF button to see if it responds to the
command. If it doesn’t try pressing the component
button and then ON•OFF again.
• If you get no response, repeat these steps using the
next code listed for your brand, until the component
responds to the remote commands.
• If you try all the codes for your component brand and
none work, try the automatic code search method. If
automatic code search doesn’t find the code, the
remote is not compatible with your component.
