Menu System
16 x 9 Widescreen
– Choose this setting if your DVD
Player is connected to a wide-screen TV. If you choose
this setting and you don’t have a widescreen TV, the
images on the screen might appear distorted due to
vertical compression. If you play a disc recorded in 4 x 3
format on a widescreen TV, the left and right side of the
screen will appear black.
Progressive Scan
If you connected your DVD player to a Progressive Scan TV using the Component Video (Y, Pb,
Pr) jacks on your TV, you must select
On
in the
Progressive Scan
menu in order to display DVD
titles in the progressive scan format.
Black Level
The
Black Level
menu lets you adjust the brightness of the picture.
1.
From the
Display
menu highlight
Black Level
and press OK (the choices appear).
2.
Highlight the setting you want to use, and press the OK button.
3.
To return to the previous menu, press the
button if necessary.
Caution! The selector
switch must be in the
OUT position.
Connecting your DVD player to a TV’s Component Input Jacks
If your TV has Component Video Input jacks (Y, Pb, Pr), you can use the Component Video Cable
(provided) to connect the DVD player to the TV instead of using S-VIdeo or regular video
(yellow).
Additionally, some high-end HDTVs,TVs, and Multimedia Monitors are capable of displaying
progressive scan signals. Progressive Scan signals are considered to have higher resolution and
better picture than interlace video signals.Your DVD player supports progressive scan, but you
must make the appropriate adjustments and connect it to a TV with progressive scan capability in
order for it to work properly.
1.
Connect the Component Video Cable (supplied) to the DVD player’s P-SCAN OUT jack and
to the TV’s Component (Y, Pb, Pr) Input Jacks.
2.
Connect the audio/video cable to the DVD player and the audio part of the audio/video cable
(white) to your TV’s Left or Mono Input Jack.
3.
Turn the LINE SELECT switch to the OUT position.
4.
If your TV supports Progressive Scan, select
On
in the
Progressive Scan
menu.
Connect the white audio
cable to the TV’s Left
(Mono) Audio Input Jack.
Don’t connect the yellow
video cable because you
are connecting the 3
component video cables.
