5. INITIAL PARAMETER SET UP (User Setup)
When first used, the charger will display the default values on the screen. Below is the
sequence in which the various programs are displayed, which you can change as required.
When you wish to change the value of a parameter in the program, press the Start/
ENTER
key to make it flash on the screen, then change the value with the
INC (+) OR DEC (-)
key.
The value will be stored by pressing the
START/ENTER
key again.
The charger automatically recognises the number of cells in the lithium battery at the start
of the charge/discharge process to avoid setting errors by the user. However, a deeply
discharged battery can be misperceived. To avoid any errors, you can set the delay for
the processor to check the number of cells. Normally, 10 minutes is sufficient to correctly
perceive the number of cells.
For a larger capacity battery, you can extend the time. However, if you set too long a delay
for the smaller capacity battery, the charge/discharge process may be completed within
the time limit with the wrong number of cells. This can cause a fatal error. If the processor
recognizes the number of cells at the beginning of the
charge/discharge process, you can extend the delay.
Otherwise, it is better to use the default value.
Here the charger indicates the Delta Peak for automatic
stop of NiMH and NiCd battery charging. The actual
value varies from 5 to 20 mV per cell. If the Delta Peak
is set to a higher level, there is a risk of overcharging
the battery; if it is set to a lower level, there is a risk
of premature shut-down. Please refer to the technical
specifications of the battery (default NiCd: 12mV,
default NiMH: 7mV).
